Hi Emil
Tested with a controller that has 10 AP's on and rebooted it now. Thanks I can see clients is showing on the controller again.
I am working as computer engineer at a Private Hospital in Turkey. We have about 40 pieces of MSM 310 AP and 1 piece of MSM760 Controller.
I dont know anything about these devices so I can not manage MSM760. I want to check it's configuration text. I can not access details of device. When I want to access device by RS32 cable on console port; it needs admin password.
I read on internet, device has an option for reset password BY EMERGENY user. I can not use it. I think when our device first configuration; previous IT man didnt choose options of enable to reset password by console.
How can I access console of MSM760 without lost configuration?
Help me please
Thanks

Hi,
Can you try with defaulut login/password:
admin/admin
or follow steps as mentioned in below link:
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=mmr_kc-0122193
If config was saved earlier then you will not loose it.
Thanks!
Hi,
I missed that you have already tried reset password BY EMERGENY user.
Then you need to reset by factory default.
When it is impossible to use the management tool due to the loss of the manager username or password, then you need use the Console port to reset the controller to its factory defaults. Process is as follows:
1. Power off the controller.
2. Connect the provided serial cable between the controller Console port and a PC
3. Configure the VT-100 terminal-emulation software (Microsoft Hyperterminal for Windows, or Minicom for Linux) as follows:
• terminal
• Baud rate of 9600
• 8 data bits
• 1 stop bit
• parity: No
• Flow control: No 4. Open an appropriately-configured terminal session.
5. Power on the controller.A system boot message appears.
6. Do not press any keyboard keys. Wait for the LILO prompt to appear. It looks like this:
LILO 22.1 boot:
IMPORTANT:As soon as the LILO prompt appears, press the keyboard space bar to prevent the automatic (non-factory-default) boot from continuing. You must tap the space bar or otherkey within four seconds of the prompt appearing.
7. At the LILO prompt, enter the command
linux factory
and press Enter. The controller restarts with factory defaults settings.Resetting to factory defaults.

Thanks!
Hi,
Has my post helped you to answer your query?
Thanks!
The controller is configured with 2 VSC's (Guest.wifi, Office.wifi)
Option A (Not using the WAN Port on the controller) Connecting the LAN Port of the controller to a managed switch. This connection trunked with 2 Vlans (Guest Vlan, Office Vlan) The Guest.wifi VSC is assigned to the LAN port of the controller and bound to the Guest Vlan. The Guest Vlan receives DHCP from the Firewall. The Guest Vlan is configured to have access to the Gateway for internet with no other network access. The Office.wifi VSC is assigned to the LAN port of the controller and bound to the Office Vlan. The Office Vlan received DHCP from a server on the network. The Office Vlan is configured to have access to the Gateway for internet and shares access with other wired network Vlans (Production, Administration, Management).
Option B (Using the WAN Port on the controller) Connecting the WAN Port of the controller to the modem and the LAN Port of the controller to a managed switch. The Guest.wifi VSC is Assigned to the WAN port of the controller. The Guest.wifi receives DHCP from the controller with access to the internet via the WAN Port. The Office wifi and Vlan networks have no changes in this configuration and are connected through the LAN Port receiving DHCP from a server on the office network. There is no "Guest Vlan" in this configuration since no Guest.wifi traffic is routed to the switch.
I am considering what option is better and why...
Hello
Maybe I better answer can be provided if we have more details about the configuration in both scenario. I can think of the following questions which can give us a better understanding of the traffic flow.
Also I think we need to know what aspect of the security you are concerned about. Is it mainly preventingof the guest users from accessing the office network? Or generally the wireless security, things like secure authentication, privacy etc?
I just got an MSM760 off eBay, seller claimed it was brand new and it came with sealed licenses and looks new so I have no reason to doubt that.
When I plug in the unit it says "HP ProCurve System Booting" and after ~2 seconds the display is backlit.
Then it stays that way, I've had it plugged in for over 1 hour and nothing else happens. (I have power cycled it multiple times by now.)
I have tried to connect through the console, (using screen(1) on a MacBook Pro running macOS 10.14.5 and iTerm2 3.2.9:
screen /dev/tty.usbserial-1410 9600
same devices works for connecting to my ProCurve switches, so there's nothing wrong with the cable, USB-adapter or the laptop.)
When connecting an ethernet cable to either port, it lights up properly, but I'm unable to reach the controller on 192.168.1.1 (either port).
Any suggestions? Is it possible to factory reset the device without accessing it through a terminal?
Nobody, huh? Well, I dug up an old hp laptop running OpenBSD, but no luck there either.
I have ordered another one from another seller on eBay and commenced returning the faulty one.
My wireless connected but indicates the status of wireless services on the AP not display. I appreciate if someone could help me to solve this problem.
Hi, sorry must have missed this a while back. Yes it is possible. You can authenticate and assign vlans. If you still are stuck post a reply and I'll provide some details.
I have the firmware version 6.2.1.1-18016 as well. However, I am getting the error, "Firmware upgrade aborted because the new firmware is for another hardware platform. Restarting with previous version. (8)" when I try to upgrade. Any suggestions?
is it anyway to find MSM313 latest firmware ?
Hello Jonathan,
Could you please provide the model of your controller and the full name of the firmware file you are trying to install?
Could you please share startup.cim files for msm430 also?
Hello Every One
I have one MSM 760 controller with default 40 AP licenses and I need to add more license to the same controller
How can I get this addtional licenses ?
Hello,
MSM760 controllers are end of sales since 2017
This means that all the accessories are also end of sales. You can try with authorized HPE partners but I would expect that the licenses are not for sale any longer.
